Trend-attitude: darlings of the week

I can’t believe it, after a long period of rainy wheather, summer is back in Germany! I’m so glad to have the chance to wear all my favourite summer pieces, which was a challenge while 16 degrees and rain during the last few weeks. At the moment, I am so in love with the cute cotton blouse with white eyelet embroidery from New Yorker. It is so feminine and reminds me of my childhood. I remember, that eyelet embroidery was also a trend in the 90ies and I was wearing a dress like that as a child. Nevertheless, this blouse is my  darling of the week. I wear it with the white denim shorts. White-on-white is just the best summer look and will look even better, if you would add turquoise color accessories, also statement earrings are currently on trend. This outfit reminds me of summer vacation and the spirit of the mediterranean sea. Imagine you would stay in Capri, Greece or Saint Tropez, this styling is perfect for a vacation.

The winner of the Designer for Tomorrow Award is Leandro Cano with his significant leather designs.

Waving dresses by Dawid Tomaszewski.

Colourful  dresses at Laurél.

Turquoise, blue and metal at HUGO by Hugo Boss.

My favourite one: plissé maxi skirt and leather top in bronze at Blacky Dress.

Here is a small overview of the highlights of the berlin fashion week. I saw a lot of shows and visited some events and came back with an overload of inspirations. My favourite shows were Dawid Tomaszewski, Escada Sport, Irina Schrotter, Designer for Tomorrow and many more. Prints and structures seems to be the most important fashion trends for spring / summer 2013.

Trend-attitude: festival style

Have you noticed, that everybody is talking about festivals this summer? You are right, when you are thinking, that festivals aren’t something new and they bring to all of us great memories. Therefore, New Yorker is publishing an online festival magazine, which is about music, festivals, fashion and our editors are visiting a lot of popular festivals all over Europe. They have already visited San Miguel in Barcelona, Optimus Primavera in Portugal, and Peace&Love in Sweden. This week they are heading to Denmark, you probably already heard about the famous Roskilde festival. Beside the festival and music reviews, you can also read about the latest festival street styles and the festival trends in stores.

The festival style is more than just an outfits for a festival. It is a summer trend: casual, comfortable and of course, stylish at the same time. The best way to transport the festival feeling is to wear an easy look, like I am showing you in the picture above. My favourite festival pieces are denim shorts, a casual shirt and some flat sandals. To complete the outfit, you just need some additonal accessories: fringes bag, sunglasses, a hat and some colourful feather jewelry.

If you want to see more of festival inspirations, take a look at our homepage. You can find it here.

Enjoy  ;-)

Trend-attitude: Annemiek’s white dresses

Annemiek is from Amsterdam and one of our bloggers from the New Yorker WHATSTREND blogger network. She is posting a lot of stylish looks. Her personal style: a mix of boyish and feminine pieces. I like the contrast of her style, since she is good at combining both looks. During the past few weeks Annemiek was publishing a lot of posts with the white dresses, which are very clean and sometimes with some embroideries.

I was looking for some white summer dresses in the current New Yorker collection and I found a lot. My favourite dresses are feautured in the collage above. I chose three different styles: a short one, a maxi dress and a playsuit. The short dress from Amisu is very grown-up and classic item. I like the white satin waistband as a feminine touch. I would wear it with some high heels for an evening look. If you want to try something else, you could also combine wedge sneakers, like Annemiek in the picture above.

The maxi dress is one of the summer highlights. I would combine it wit flat sandals and some jewelry for an evening look. During the daytime I would prefer to wear the playsuit. It has a perfect style for a sunny day at the beach and also for a shopping trip to the city. The playsuit is so casual and feminine at the same time. What do you think, if Annemiek would approve?

See you,

Anne ♥

Trend-attitude: arm party

We are celebrating an incredible arm party, this summer! You don’t know what I mean? No problem, I will try to explain it.  Most of us are wearing a lot of jewelry to pimp up our outfits and to create an individual style. Bracelets, bangles, straps and wristlets are all you need for your summer jewelry 2012. In order to celebrate an arm party, you just need a lot of different bracelets. Just try to mix different styles, colours and materials, as much as you can. The more, the better.

I’m showing my favorite New Yorker bracelets, in the collage above. I prefer the mix of natural leather straps with the highlighted neon bangles. Further more I like the mix of silver and gold. In my opinion, both colors match perfectly.

My personal tip is to buy bracelets whenever you travel to different cities or countries. Bracelets are a nice memory of vacations and when you are wearing them, you can remember the good times. I collected a lot of bracelets during my last journeys and I actually  mix them with some new stuff from the current collections.

Happy arm party this summer!

See you,

Anne ♥

Trend-attitude: printed T-shirts

If you prefer a casual and comfortable style, you should invest into T-shirts with a print. This season printed tops were seen in the collections of  popular fashion designers. For example, Isabel Marant signature look was printed numbers on sporty Tank Tops and Blouses. Therefore, I adore the tank-top in turquoise with the white letters from the fishbone label in the collage above. I would wear it with a bleached denim pants and rough boots for the Marant-ish look.

T-shirts give you various styling possibilities. You can combine them with shorts, skirts, chinos and denim for a casual look. If you want a little bit more formal and sophisticated outfit you could introduce to your wardrobe a classic blazer or a pair of trousers. I prefer the mix of dressy and casual. For example, I would wear a glamourous skirt with sequins, glitter, feathers or fringes, and combine it with a printed T-shirt, which is a bit more edgy and daring.

In the image above I have selected my favorite T-shirts from the current collection in stores. I prefer statement T-shirts (“I need holidays”) it gives you a certain attitude, also cropped T-shirts are very in style right now. If you don’t want your belly  to show off, you can wear something underneath like a Tank Top. The one with the fluorized print is one of my favorites tops. Neon and rainbow colorings are also a fashion topic this summer and worth to invest. Finally, the cute top with the “Love” print combines both trends and  it was worn during our editorial shooting as the highlight item of the summer collection.

See you,

Anne ♥

Trend-attitude: three ways of wearing vokuhila skirt

Few weeks ago, I was in Berlin visiting the Fashion Week and I have spotted a lot of cool streetstyles over there. Actually, there was a particular item which stuck in my head:  the vokuhila skirt. Vokuhila skirts are cutted short in the front and left longer in the back side. Of course, I found a vokuhila skirt in the latest New Yorker summer collection. It is available in pastel peach (check for other colors in stores) and I am in particular in love with the floating material. It might be a bit chalenging to style the skirt, but you should just try different options in order to find out what’s right for you.

During the fashion week in Berlin, I spotted the skirt very often combined with high heels. The skirt is designed to sit high waisted, tops and shirts should be tucked in. You can actually wear the skirt with flat sandals, high heels, wedges or sneakers, it only depends on which kind of shoes you prefer. I show you three examples how to wear a vokuhila skirt above, I hope you like it and find some inspirations for your own style.
