What is the best thing to do after or during a shopping marothon or vintage hunt? Oh well because you’re at Brick Lane you should either brace yourself with a Bagel from the 24h Bagel shop or well go to one of the many curry places. The good thing is you can haggle for extra bottles of wine because the curry restaurants are competing shoulder to shoulder for their customers. One curry place I can recommend is The Shampan. But why is it different to the other ones? Pretty easy for me, as there is a note from Jarvis Cocker, former singer of Pulp in the window and him visiting The Shampan even made it in the newspaper. So what Jarvis like must taste good to everyone else too! And I can confirm it really tastes good, whatever dish you order. read more…

This is probably one of the most outstanding and ‘vintage’ vintage shops about, The Vintage Emporium and Café, is as the name states not only a vintage shop but also a café. The ground floor is crammed with lovely antique furniture, old suitcases and cake. And as soon as you go downstairs you enter another world, the room is filled with gorgeous displays and an amazing selection of top vintage clothing from Victorian times up to the 50s and 60s. It’s pretty much an antidote to the usual jumble sale style vintage experience at Brick Lane, you can just tell it’s a shop people put all their heart in it. read more…
