Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Situated on seven hills (just like Rome), it attracted Romans and soon became a cultural and administrative center for the Roman empire. Dating back to the 2nd-5th century, there are many historical monuments left such as amphitheaters, stadiums, baths, stone paved roads and a modern for that time water supply and sewage systems. Although, many of these buildings were excavated and restored, there are a lot of ancient artifacts still hidden under the new town.
The location of the first photo is a small Roman amphitheater called the Odeon that is more than 1500 years old... As far as fashion goes, even it is strongly influenced by history, just think about the gladiator sandals :)
